Last week, I wrote an article called Nothing. It was an article about nothing in particular. I have other things that I wanted to write about, but nothing long enough to make an article for. Instead of calling the article, Nothing 2 or Nothing, again, I decided to call it Bupkis. If you can’t tell by the picture, I got the word Bupkis from a Dick Van Dyke epsiode. Bupkis means nothing. Interesting tidbit about the Dick Van Dyke Show, WWE Hall of Famer, Classie Freddie Blassie has a cameo as himself in Season 1, Episode 23 of the Dick Van Dyke Show called the Twizzle.
Jake “the Snake” Roberts has been in the hospital recently. Growing up, Jake “the Snake” Roberts was one of my brother’s favorites. It may have been his first favorite wrestler. I have three Jake Roberts moments that I always remember about him. The first is his Wrestlemania VII match against Rick “the Model” Martel. It was a Blinfold match, because in the storyline, Rick Martel sprayed Jake Roberts with his arrogance spray. I know its a weird match to think of first, since its pretty bad but I always think about it. The second was during his feud with Earthquake. Earthquake would hit a couple of his “Earthquake splashes” on a bag that had Jake Robert’s snake, Damien in it. The snake wasn’t really in the bag, but when you’re a child, you thought Earthquake just killed Damien. Jake Roberts later introduced Lucifer, Damien’s Big Brother. The third and final moment is during Elizabeth and Randy Savage’s wedding party. Savage and Elizabeth opened a present with a snake in it. It lead to Randy Savage being reinstated, after being forced to retire, due to losing to the Ultimate Warrior at Wrestlemania VII. Randy Savage and Jake Roberts went on to have a great feud.
Two of the best selling wrestling shirts in history are so basic. They are black shirts with white writing on them. One was a WWE shirt and the other a WCW shirt. The WWE shirt was the Austin 3:16 T-shirt. The WCW was the NWO T-shirt. Well WWE has recently released a new T-shirt. It’s black with white writing. I think this shirt will sell more than the Austin 3:16 and NWO shirt did combine. In fact, I encourage anyone who is reading this to go buy it. Convince your wrestling friends and family to buy it. Have them convince their wrestling friends and family to buy it. You can even convince your non-wrestling friends and family to buy it. Now I’m sure you want to know two things. What is the shirt? And, how much does the shirt cost? Well dear readers, look at the picture below, and the price will be obvious. So go out and buy it.
WCW Nitro has recently been put on the WWE Network. WCW Nitro changed the wrestling business. I still remember watching the first episode of Monday Nitro and I remember watching the last episode of Nitro. The first episode and the last episode both had Sting vs. Ric Flair. Also, both episodes had shocking moments. The first episode was when a man who was thought to be a WWF Wrestler, Lex Luger appeared. The final episode is obviously seeing Vince McMahon open up Nitro. Now a days, moments like those don’t exist. We would have all known before the episode that Lex Luger and Vince McMahon would appear on the show.
In my Nothing article, I talked about a WWE YouTube show called 5 things hosted by Tom Phillips. I’m going to do the same for Bupkis. The most recent is called 5 Hard-Working WWE Superstars. They talk about wrestlers who work hard outside of the ring. The five wrestlers are Duke “the Dumpster” Droese, Big Boss Man, Irwin R. Schyster, Alicia Fox and Repo Man. Now my last article was called Labor Day. Which is basically the same thing as the video. I’m not saying they copied me but I released my article on September 1st and WWE released the video on September 3rd. 4 out of the 5 people in the video, I mentioned in my article, with Alicia Fox the only one not in my article. They even mention Repo Man repossessing Randy Savage’s hat, which I also mentioned. Tom Phillips at the end of the video brings up Simon Dean, The Mountie and Doink the Clown. Mountie and Doink the Clown are in my article. So did WWE copy my article? Go to WWE’s Youtube page and look for the video called 5 Hard-working WWE Superstars. Then go read my article, and you be the judge.
What should I call this.
How about Bupkis.
I think that’s what I will do.
It’s better than Nothing 2
Besides Bupkis means nothing
I think it a Yiddish meaning
How do I know?
I learned it from the Dick Van Dyke Show.
That all I have to say for this time.
Hope you enjoy my Bupkis rhyme.
