Okay, sorry it’s taken me so long to finish this fantasy push for Kassius Ohno, it’s been a busy couple of weeks for me. If you missed the first part of it, check it out HERE. I left off with a conclusion to the feud between Kassius and Kane. It’s almost a no-brainer where Kassius goes from here. With Daniel Bryan returning and costing Kassius his “final” match with Kane … it just makes sense that his next feud be against Bryan. You might be thinking that the fans will be sick of seeing Kassius tied up with Kane and Bryan, but I think there is a huge difference between tag matches against Team Hell No and singles matches against either competitor. How different will matches between Kassius and Bryan be vs. Kassius and Kane? Night and Day.
Here’s where WWE makes believers out of the fans that enjoy technical wresting. Kassius Ohno and Daniel Bryan are exceptional wrestlers. These guys could have very entertaining 2 out of 3 falls matches, submission matches, and even Iron Man matches. Put these two in a ring for 30 min or even an hour (like that would ever happen today) and you could have another Wrestlemania 12 main event. These two could easily earn match of the night at any event. So back to the storyline … Lets say they do a program with matches like I just listed, with the final match being an Iron Man match with Kassius Ohno winning. WWE could talk up the match afterwards calling it the match of the night. For a few weeks on RAW/Smackdown they play replays of different parts of the match continuously praising it. Eventually they start interviewing other wrestlers backstage or maybe just on .com or WWEActive asking them what they thought of the match. Most of the wrestlers agree that it was great … until they interview one person in particular. The one person who talks incessantly about stealing the show, and working harder than anyone else … CM Punk.
Punk would say something like “I’m not taking anything away from either wrestler, it was a good match. But was it the best? No. And do you know why it wasn’t the best? Because neither Daniel Bryan or Kassius Ohno are the best in the world. I, CM Punk, am the best in the world and until Kassius Ohno wrestles me, he’ll never have the best match of the night”. Ohno cuts a promo talking about all of the times he defeated Punk in Ring of Honor and that it will just be the same if they wrestled again. He talks about how punk only held the WWE title so long because he forced it into the renegotiation after Money in the Bank 2011, not because he earned it, and especially not because he’s the best wrestler in the world. The only thing that he’s the best in world at, is back room politicking. This is the type of promo that would truly get under CM Punk’s skin, but there’s no rebuttal from Punk. He has his own agenda happening and can’t be bothered with Kassius Ohno. Let’s say this is around the time of The Royal Rumble. Punk already has or wins the WWE title at the rumble, and Kassius Ohno ends up winning the Royal Rumble match, setting the two up for Wrestlemania.
The build for this match is already written. Each of them show off their true wrestling skills in matches leading up to Mania, sending blatant messages to one another. What I think could be really interesting is if the two never have any physical altercations. If the Wrestlemania match is the first time these two wrestle in WWE, I think that would be really awesome, no sneak attacks, no tag matches on Raw. This way the audience is getting something truly unique at Wrestlemania. The match would be super suspenseful, a lot of back and forth, a few false finishes, but very sportsmanlike. At this point I think Kassius would have a significant amount of fan backing, especially after winning the Iron Man match … enough backing to go over Punk and win the title on the grandest stage of them all. The match would also serve as a passing of the torch: from the first indie star to make it in WWE in a long time to another.
Kassius Ohno is a great wrestler, a great talker, and a great asset to World Wrestling Entertainment. While I know the storylines I came up with probably aren’t going to happen, I still hope that Ohno is not wasted, and that WWE isn’t going to keep him off of TV for much longer.
