NXT Review (5/8/14) – Alexa Bliss Impresses In Debut Match, Battle Royal Ends In Controversy

NXT

Charlotte def. Emma – Tournament Match (3:48)

Charlotte has improved in the ring, but of course there’s still room for improvement. Emma continues to impress me with her matches in NXT. And as luck would have it, Emma seems to have had more success in NXT than on the main roster as far as being over with the crowd and match quality. Charlotte needed this win as she seems like the favorite to win the whole tournament.

Kalisto and El Local def. Sylvester LeFort and Marcus Louis (4:15)

More tag teams! This is another step in the right direction. Kalisto impressed me right off the bat, and I can’t wait to see more. He may be exactly what WWE needs right now. I never knew Ricardo Rodriguez (El Local) could work in the ring, but he’s good. The team of LeFort and Louis is a good combination and I hope they stay together. Decent match overall. I hope these new tag teams are placed in a tournament soon to determine a meaningful contender for The Ascension.

Kalisto and El Local

Camacho def. Captain Comic (2:39)

I wasn’t too fond of the idea of this match happening before it took place. The actual match wasn’t too impressive to me, and it was hard to concentrate on the in-ring work. This rivalry between Rose and Camacho could be coming to an end soon. I think a match at NXT Takeover would benefit both.

Alexa Bliss def. Alicia Fox – Tournament Match (3:08)

I’ve heard good things about Alexa Bliss over the last few months. I will admit that I wasn’t sure about her when I seen her outfit and her entrance when watching the show. I obviously wasn’t doubting her right off the bat. Bliss went in there and put on a good match with Fox. Alexa Bliss is very athletic and entertaining, which is a great combination. I’m glad she won her debut match in a tournament, and can’t wait to see her in the ring with Charlotte!

#1 Contender Battle Royal

I was fine with this match being the way to determine who will be Neville’s next challenger. And the participants were great, in my opinion. Mojo Rawley, Sami Zayn, and Bo Dallas were the only three to have their entrances aired. Baron Corbin stood out to me in this match. He has an interesting look and was hyped up by the commentators. This was one of Mason Ryan’s last matches, as he was in the final few. Tyson Kidd, Sami Zayn, and Tyler Breeze were the final three. They all landed on the outside at the same time, leading to confusion on who won. Triple H came out and announced the three will compete in a triple threat match to determine the number one contender.

This is great booking, and I can’t wait to see what promises to be an entertaining match. I can see any of them winning, so it will be interesting to see what the result is! You can follow me on Twitter @cj_blaze24.

Great review CJ. I was disappointed Emma went under to Charlotte but I suppose now Emma is on the min roster it’s not crucial for her to advance in the tournament. The less said about Captain Comic the better. Alexa Bliss I’m still on the fence for but it’s only her first match so I want to see a bit more from her before I judge what I’ve seen. The ending to the Battle Royal felt a little obvious for to me that it wasn’t going to be conclusive but I enjoyed it and am interested to see the triple threat match

Thanks for reading Jamie! I do want to see more of Alexa Bliss to know more of what she can do too. The triple threat match will be awesome, I can just tell by who is in it.
