One of the big lingering questions being asked these days regarding WWE, is who should Brock Lesnar face at WrestleMania 31. We all know Brock Lesnar is going to have a lengthy title run, but two options have been given to answer that question. Option A is Vince’s plan: Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock. Option B is Triple H’s plan: Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns, but I have a third option, Option C you could say. Allow me to first explain the positives and negative of the first two options, before I explain how I have a better plan than the two big men running WWE right now. Yes, I am that egotistical about the subject, and you will see why in a minute.
Option A – Vince’s Idea
The plan that Vince McMahon wants to do is book Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock to headline WrestleMania 31. That would be a huge selling point for WrestleMania 31. Possibly the biggest draw for WrestleMania ever. You have a former MMA Champion against one of the hottest Hollywood Stars right now, on your biggest night of the year. You literally can’t book it any bigger. The fact that these guys rarely compete in the ring make this match that much more special; regardless, if they competed before. Everyone who has any idea of wrestling will buy that show just for those two guys. Even old wrestling fans will want to see that match go down, but here are the negatives. This is taking away the honors passed to Brock Lesnar from Undertaker and John Cena, and just wasting them on a part time legend. If the title is on the line, than are you going to give it to another part time talent? By booking the best show now, you hurt the potential of the company for the future. Vince is looking out for the sales, not the future.
Option B – Triple H’s Idea
Triple H is wanting to go a different route than Vince. He wants to book Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar. Unlike Vince, Triple H wants to use the momentum and value of Brock Lesnar to elevate another superstar to main event status. The chosen one in his eyes is Roman Reigns. The great thing about this option is that it guarantees a star. Nothing is bigger than winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. Add that to beating the one behind the one in twenty-one and one, and you have the perfect recipe for creating of the future face of the WWE. WrestleMania will sell, especially with Brock Lesnar on the card. So using that time to give the ultimate push for a rising superstar is a great move for the future of the company. Now here is the negative side of that coin. Where do you go from there? You can’t have the guy who stopped the beast be on the same level as everyone else. I talk about this very scenario in a previous article. One that you can read here. Also, will the WWE Universe be 100% on board with Roman Reigns taking out The Beast Incarnate. The jury is still out on whether he deserves to be WWE World Heavyweight Champion right now. I know WrestleMania 31 is still a long way away, but that event will creep up quick, and WWE is preparing for it earlier every year. Triple H is looking out for his chosen hero, not the logical booking of the future.
Option C – Zeppelin’s Idea
Earlier I mentioned combining both ideas. This is how I would do it. Have Brock Lesnar hold onto the WWE World Heavyweight Championship till Royal Rumble. Regardless of who he is competing against, he is injured. You could even make the match a Street Fight, just to get the crowd to believe that Brock Lesnar is hurt. After he barely retains the title through a vicious and violent match, Seth Rollins hits the ring. He takes out Brock Lesnar with the help of The Authority, and cashes in his Money In The Bank contract to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. The rematch would be set for Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar at Elimination Chamber. But there is a new enemy set on Brock Lesnar. A feud on Twitter is sparked between Brock Lesnar and The Rock. Each one is calling the other names about being a paper champion, and not a true WWE Superstar. In the match between Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar, The Rock costs Brock his match. Brock Lesnar wins by DQ, keeping him strong, and Seth Rollins gets to keep the title. This allows Brock Lesnar’s focus to shift from the WWE World Heacyweight Championship to The Rock full time leading into WrestleMania 31. This would also mark the final match for both men, as Brock vs. Rock would headline WrestleMania 31. Who is the greatest superstar, ever? All the while, The Authority has full control over the WWE World Heavyweight Championship again. But wait, Roman Reigns won the Royal Rumble. So while Seth Rollins fights Brock Lesnar. Roman Reigns is forced to put his main event match on the line against five other men in an Elimination Chamber. He would lose that chance to none other than, Dean Ambrose. Dean Ambrose doesn’t want to steal Roman Reigns’ chance away, so the match is booked as a Triple Threat Match that has Roman Reigns finally becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion. So now we have two main events. Brock Lesnar and The Rock would sell the show, and the Triple Threat Championship Match would help give rise to three future stars, and put an end to an incredible feud with The Shield’s dissension.
