Ultimate Pay-Per-View of Michigan

I’ve written these series based on certain pay-per-views like Wrestlemania. I decided to try something different and do pay-per-views based on location. Since I am from Michigan, I’ll start there. Michigan has hosted 11 WWE Pay-Per-Views, Wrestlemania III and 23, Survivor Series 1991, 1999 and 2005, Summer Slam 1993, Royal Rumble 2009, In Your House 3: Triple Header 1995, Vengeance 2002, Over the Limit 2010 and Night of Champions 2013.

1. This is not fantasy matches. I picked matches from the eleven pay-per-views held in Michigan.
2. I only picked one match from each wrestler.
3. I picked matches based on where they fell on the card. So I picked an opening match, a match that appeared 2nd on the card, and so on.
4. I booked it like a real pay-per-view, so I only picked one title match for each title I used. So while there were many WWE Championship matches I could have chosen from I only picked one.
5. This is just my opinion. Obviously, people’s opinion will be different than mine.
6. I picked 12 matches, the length in total of the 12 matches were 2:13:49

The site of my PPV is Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, sight of Wrestlemania 23. Since I picked the Silverdome for my Ultimate Wrestlemania, I will go with Ford Field this time. My announcers are Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon. They were the announcers for the 1991 Survivor Series.

The opening match I went with was the opening match from the 1991 Survivor Series. In took place at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The match is Elimination Match: Ric Flair, the Mountie, Million Dollar Man and the Warlord vs. Roddy Piper, Bret Hart, Virgil and Davey Boy Smith. The match was 22:48. Davey Boy Smith was eliminated first by pin fall, Ric Flair pinned him. The Warlord was eliminated second by pin fall, Roddy Piper pinned him. Million Dollar Man, the Mountie, Bret Hart, Roddy Piper and Virgil were all disqualified for brawling outside the ring. This meant that Ric Flair was the Sole Survivor. I was in attendance as a ten year old boy.

The 2nd match will be the 2nd match from the 2009 Royal Rumble. It took place at the Joe Louis Arena. The match is Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix vs. Melina. The match was 5:56. Melina won the Women’s Championship by pin fall. I was in attendance and what I remember most about this match was Melina’s flexibility. Beth Phoenix used Melina’s foot to hit Melina in the back of the head.

The 3rd match will be the 3rd match from the 2010 Over the Limit. It took place at the Joe Louis Arena. The match is Straight Edge Society Pledge vs. Hair Match: CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio. The match was 13:49. Rey Mysterio won by pin fall. Therefore, CM Punk had to have his head shaved. This was when CM Punk was, in my opinion, his best heel run.

The 4th match will be the 4th match from Wrestlemania 23. It took place at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. The match is World Heavyweight Champion Batista vs. Undertaker. The match was 15:48. Undertaker won the World Heavyweight Championship by pin fall. This would be his first World Heavyweight Championship reign. His first WWE Championship reign also began in Detroit at the 1991 Survivor Series. Also his last day as WWE Champion was also in Detroit when he lost the WWE Championship to the Rock at Vengeance 2002.

The 5th match will be the 5th match from Wrestlemania 23. The match is ECW Originals (Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer, Sabu and Sandman) vs. New Breed (Elijah Burke, Matt Striker, Kevin Thorne and Marcus Cor Von). The match was 7:27. Rob Van Dam pinned Matt Striker for the victory. Being born in Battle Creek, Michigan, RVD always gets a good pop in his birth state. I was also in attendance for Wrestlemania 23.

The 6th match will be the 6th match from Vengeance 2002. It took place at Joe Louis Arena. The match is No Disqualification Match: Booker T vs. Big Show. The match was 6:12. Booker T won by pin fall. I picked this match because you can see my cousin holding up a sign that says “I Came to See the Spinaroni, Sucka.” You can see me standing next to my cousin.

The 7th match will be the 7th match from Night of Champions 2013. It took place at Joe Louis Arena. The match is WWE Tag Team Champions the Shield (Seth Rolins & Roman Reigns) vs. Prime Time Players. The match was 7:27. Seth Rollins pinned Titus O’Neil for the victory.   This was the most recent pay-per-view in Detroit.

The 8th match will be the 8th match from Survivor Series 1999. It took place at Joe Louis Arena. The match is Elimination Match: Too Cool and the Holly Cousins vs. Hardy Boyz, Edge and Christian. The match was 14:27. Edge was eliminated 1st by pin fall, when Hardcore Holly pinned him. Matt Hardy was eliminated 2nd by pin fall, when Scotty 2 Hotty pinned him.   Scotty 2 Hotty was eliminated 3rd by pin fall, when Jeff Hardy pinned him. Jeff Hardy was eliminated 4th by pin fall, when Grand Master Sexay pinned him. Grand Master Sexay was eliminated 5th by pin fall, when Christian pinned him. Crash Holly was eliminated 6th by pin fall, when Christian pinned him. Christian was eliminated 7th by pin fall, when Hardcore Holly pinned him. Hardcore Holly was the sole survivor. This was the pay-per-view that Stone Cold got “hit by a car.”

The 9th match will be the 9th match from Wrestlemania III. It took place at the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan. The match is Intercontinental Champion Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat. The match was 14:36. Ricky Steamboat won the Intercontinental Title by pin fall. This may be the greatest WWE match to ever happen in the state of Michigan.

The 10th match will be the 10th match from Wrestlemania III. The match is Honky Tonk Man vs. Jake “the Snake” Roberts. The match was 7:05. Honky Tonk Man won by pin fall. Jake Roberts was accompanied to the ring by Detroit Native, Alice Cooper.

The 11th match will be the 11th match from Wrestlemania III. The match is Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff vs. Killer Bees. The match was 5:44. Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff won by disqualification, when Hacksaw Jim Duggan hit Iron Sheik with his 2X4. The reason I picked the 10th and 11th match was because I want the 12 match.

The main event is the 12th match from Wrestlemania III. The match is WWF Champion Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant. The match was 12:30. Hulk Hogan retained the WWF Championship by pin fall. Yes, I picked this for the main event for my Ultimate Wrestlemania. I’m picking it again for my Michigan Pay-Per-View. Hulk Hogan body slamming Andre the Giant is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, moment in WWE history.

Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat in a classic.

Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant is my main event pic.

Michigan is where Undertaker’s first WWE Championship reign began.

Where on Monday Night Raw, Jim Ross said “Austin got McMahon.”

In Your House 3, Vengeance, Over the Limit, Night of Champions and more.

Michigan has hosted each of the WWE’s big four.

These has been some of the great.

That has happened in my home state.
