What Will WWE Do For Wrestlemania XXX?

Posted by

We are now just over six months away from the 30th Wrestlemania, which will emanate from The Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans on April 6th. With it being the first ‘milestone’ Wrestlemania not to be held at Madison Square Garden, the up-scaling of the event means that we should expect one of the best Wrestlemania’s in history.

Here is what I think will happen in six months time…
CM PUNK OR DANIEL BRYAN WILL BE WORLD CHAMPION

These two men, at time of writing, get the biggest reactions from the WWE Universe, and whilst Triple H is going on about what is best for business, it is clear that one of these two men should be involved in a World Title match, if not both together. I have already wrote an article about how these two men should be involved in an Iron Man match, and I believe that if this does happen, it won’t be for either World Championship.

However, the probability of an Iron Man Match is slim, and I think it is a lot more likely that one or both of these men will be involved in World Title matches.

JOHN CENA HAS TO FIND A NEW OPPONENT

For the past three Wrestlemania’s, John Cena has had involvement with The Rock. With The Brahma Bull apparently stepping away from WWE activities for the time being, Cena is going to have to find a new feud for April. With a return around the Royal Rumble being speculated at this time, Cena will have around ten weeks to set up a potentially legendary feud.

The problem he has is that he has to move on up from The Rock, and there aren’t many people who Cena could have a genuine feud with. Potentially CM Punk could be an option, although we have seen the feud quite a lot over the past two years.

Another scenario is that Cena puts over an up and coming main eventer. Dolph Ziggler, The Shield, Bray Wyatt are all early candidates, although the whole situation is unlikely.

The most likely scenario leads into my next expectation

THE UNDERTAKER STAYS UNBEATEN

There are only two men I see The Deadman facing in New Orleans. In both situations, I can see The Undertaker winning for the simple reason that there is nobody in the right point in their career who would benefit from defeating The Undertaker. The other reason is that The Streak shouldn’t be ended by a current, established main event star.

The only two men I can see facing Taker are Cena and Brock Lesnar. Cena would have the chance to prove that he can produce a classic Wrestlemania match, after the somewhat disappointing encounter with The Rock last year, and it would also allow him to quiet the doubters who still insist he can’t wrestle.

In the case of Brock Lesnar, I personally think that aside from Kurt Angle, Lesnar’s best work in his first WWE run was with The Undertaker. Depending on the state of Taker’s shoulders, it could be brilliant once again.

BRING BACK THE MONEY IN THE BANK

I don’t know if it’s just me, but the Money In The Bank PPV has lost a little bit of it’s spark over the past few years. In my own opinion, that is due to the fact the last two WWE Championship briefcases have been used by an already established star.

By adding the match back to the Wrestlemania card, it would give ten or so guys a Wrestlemania bonus, whilst adding a match that always added a different style of match on the card. It would also remove the opportunity to give the briefcase to a John Cena or Randy Orton or a similar ranked superstar. It could give people like Cody Rhodes, Bray Wyatt, Big E Langston or others a chance to make the jump to the main event scene.

HAVE MATCHES THAT HAVE BEEN BUILT OVER MONTHS, NOT WEEKS

I want to be able to watch a feud develop over a period of time, so when Wrestlemania hits, it feels like a grudge match. If there are going to be eight, nine or ten matches on the card, have a build-up to them.

Vince… Have a plan of action before the Royal Rumble and stick to it. Don’t change it because you feel like it, or because somebody has annoyed you.

There have been too many PPV’s over recent months that I haven’t watched because the build-up has been lacklustre, and if you do that at Wrestlemania again, there will be less that 1,000,000 buys guaranteed.

So they’re my thoughts, and feel free to add your own below.
