Wrestling Rambles: Dancers, Dinosaurs and Light up Jackets

I admit it. I was annoyed at Fandango… excuse me! **Ahem**Fahhhhnnn-Dahnnnnn-Goh!!!!! Annoyed that there was no direction and WWE was dropping the ball and being callous with this man’s career. Then I remembered.
Brodus “The Funkasaurus” Clay. For weeks we saw that him set to debut and then nothing. We remembered the monster from before and wondered what he had to offer. Then we finally got a match. The big man came out to a cold reception. I remember he yelled out, “Suuuupllleeeexxx”, as he threw some jabroni over his head and I was all in. He won us over.

I watched Chris Jericho come out and tease us for weeks last year by not saying a word. It was ingenious. He went from fans screaming to legit heat night after night. After a while, folks would see his light up jacket and instinctively boo. His best bit was the way he would do that toothy smile like he was done toying with us and we were finally going to hear what he had to say then…. Nothing. That was good business. He had us all watching to find out what the hell he was going to do and eventually he got in the ring and went full speed and won us over.
Fandango really hit a stride last night (Monday, 03/18/2013). Love him or hate him, the kid has something. I bought in. I am an admitted mark for the slow build storylines. Fandango got out of dodge and then indignantly let us know we did not deserve to see him perform. I found myself wanting to see him mix it up with Khali. I never want to see Khali fight anyone! The best part… the crowd didn’t know how to react. We remember Johnny Curtis and know he can go, but all they had was a “You can’t wrestle chant”. The crowd has bought in. And, Curtis, couldn’t help but let out a sly smirk, they bit the bait… he had a spark of legit heat. While I was outlining how to write this, I was treated to a bonus, Fandango meets Chris Jericho segment. Fandango was great as the straight man taking himself way too seriously as Y2J did what he does best.
Let me know in the comments. Are you ready to ditch the gimmick or do you see value in everyone being so annoyed? I love it. I don’t know about you all but I am hoping on Friday Night, the announce gets it right… Fahn-Dahn-Goh!!!!

I feel the same exact way. Everyone immediately wanted to dismiss Curtis and the Fandango gimmic, but the longer they drag him out the more I want to finally see him in the ring.WWE knows what they’re doing. And I popped when I heard the crowd chant “you can’t wrestle!”. It was awesome. I can’t wait for his match with Jericho at Mania. I think its gonna be Faaaannnn Taaaassss Tiiiicccc!
the problem is I ain't even pissed or annoyed, like Am I the only one who simply don't care about that guy, like everytime he comes and decides to not compete I don't feel trolled or pissed and I'm simply never reacting to it so no he ain't such a big draw for me !
I think thats the only point i cant counteract… If you dont care it doesnt matter. Its hard to care about a wrestler like Johnny Curtis. Everytime he has almost connected they pulled him back leaving him rather forgettable.
